Mass Transit Privacy Policy

Mass Transit is an iOS app that helps you view original posts from your Mastodon account and share them with other services.

Data Collection and Storage

Mass Transit stores your connected Mastodon profile address and app settings locally on your device.

If you connect a Bluesky account, Mass Transit stores the sign-in session securely in the iOS Keychain. The session is used to publish posts to Bluesky when you choose to do so. You can remove it by signing out of Bluesky in the app’s Settings.

The app does not send your feed or account settings to servers controlled by Brave Location Services Ltd. It does not include advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services.

Mastodon

To connect your Mastodon account, you enter the server where your account is hosted and sign in through that server. Mass Transit uses a short-lived, read-only authorization to verify the account. The app does not store your Mastodon password or authorization token, and it attempts to revoke the token after verification.

Mass Transit then requests your public posts and their images directly from your Mastodon server so it can display them and prepare them for sharing. Your Mastodon server receives these requests and may process information such as your IP address under its own privacy policy. Mastodon servers are independently operated, so their policies and practices vary.

Bluesky

> Bluesky sign-in uses an OAuth callback URL on bravelocation.com to return a temporary authorization response to Mass Transit and complete sign-in. The app exchanges that response directly with Bluesky. The callback is used for authentication, not to store your posts or feed.

When you choose to publish a post to Bluesky, Mass Transit sends the post text and any attached images and image descriptions directly to Bluesky. Bluesky handles and stores published posts under its own policies. See Bluesky’s Privacy Policy.

Sharing

If you choose another sharing option, Mass Transit opens the standard iOS share sheet. The information shared depends on the destination you select. If you choose Copy Link, the original post link is copied to your device’s clipboard.

Data Removal

You can disconnect your Mastodon account and sign out of Bluesky in Mass Transit’s Settings. Signing out removes the saved Bluesky session from the app’s Keychain storage. We recommend signing out before deleting the app if you want to remove that saved session.

Disconnecting an account or deleting Mass Transit does not remove posts already published to Mastodon, Bluesky, or another service. Manage or delete those posts through the service where they were published.

Third-Party Services

Mass Transit connects to your chosen Mastodon server and, if you use the posting feature, Bluesky. Any service you choose through the iOS share sheet also receives information you choose to share with it. Each service has its own privacy policy and data practices.
